Tim Wellens won in the 14th stage of the Vuelta, contested between Lugo and Ourense (Galicia). This is the Trudonnaire's second success on this Tour of Spain.
In a hill sprint atop a nearly 2 kilometer bump, Wellens was faster than Michael Woods and Zdeněk Štybar.
The 3 men were part of a seven-runner breakaway that had formed after some 40 miles of racing.
With 3 third category ribs on the menu and a rather rolling profile between climbs, all the ingredients were there to make the breakaway last.

“Lotto Soudal’s goal was to win at least one stage of this Vuelta.
After my victory in the 5th stage in Sabiñanigo, we hoped to be able to go and look for another one.
I knew today’s stage was right for me, I had it in mind for a while.
It's one thing to check off the stages that are in your favor, but it's another to hit the right breakaway and have the legs to finish the job.
Today everything went according to plans ".
