Etoile de Bessèges: the brilliant Arnaud de Lie wins the first stage!

In a finish built for the puncheurs, the young Belgian sprinter from the LOTTO-DESTINY team, won in the most beautiful way by showing strength and tactics. Indeed, when the Danish rider Mads Petersen (Trek-Segafredo) attacked with less than 500m to go, Arnaud de Lie cleverly took his wheel before making a powerful and decisive acceleration in the last bend. The champion underlined at the finish line the work of his team throughout this first flat stage of 160 kilometers (45.47 km/h average). A work that allows him to become the provisional "lieder" of the 53rd Tour du Gard.
